Welcome to AfroDraught frequently asked questions page where we aim to bring you fast and efficient answers to your queries.

AfroDraught simply means African Draught. It is the African rules version of the 10x10 draughts game. This is popularly known as Draft.

AfroDraught enables playing this popular game in different modes and with various styled boards. The varying modes are Training, 2 players and tournament mode.

Draft is a mix of the different draught game versions and rules.

Main differences:

  1. Played on a 10x10 board rather than 8X8 board. Each side starts with 20 pieces or seeds.
  2. A seed can jump or capture diagonally forwards and backwards.
  3. When a seed reaches the opposite end of the board during a jump sequence, it must stop.
  4. A king seed can move diagonally in any direction and not limited to one step.
  5. Seeds can choose any jump opportunity and not limited to the jump move sequence with greater number of jumps.

Creating a new game is quite simple.

Steps:

  1. Click on PLAY using the top navigation bar.
  2. Select game type.
  3. Select game settings (optional).

Steps:

  1. Click PLAY on top navigation bar.
  2. Select board type.
  3. Click on the drop down box and select the desired board.

We are excited you are considering becoming a Tournament Host. A Tournament Host is one who regularly earns cash from regularly organising Tournaments on AfroDraught. It is free and all you have to do is create Tournaments, promote them and have people participate. Main steps are Create, Promote and Participate.

At the end of the tournament, 25% of the Total Entry coins are awarded to the Tournament Host. These coins can then be converted into cash by making a withdrawal request.

Also, at the end of the tournament, 20% of the Total Entry coins are shared among the Tournament Winner(s).

You can have multiple tournaments at the same time. Below is an example of how it works.

For example:

  1. Scenario: Knockout Tournament. Players: 32 players. Entry coins: 5000 coins

    Total Entry Coins: 32 * 5000 = 160,000 coins.
    Tournament Host Reward at end of event = 25% * 160000 = 40,000 coins
    Tournament Winner Reward at end of event = 20% * 160000 = 32,000 coins.

Steps:

  1. Create a knockout or league style tournament. Set required coins to join.
  2. Promote it using the Tournament's Share link.
  3. People join your tournament.
  4. Start the tournament when the required number of players are reached.
  5. The match pairings are automatically created between the players.
  6. The players play their assigned games until the tournament is over.

Things to note:

  1. Tournament must be concluded within 30 days of stated start date during creation, else will be marked as expired.
  2. After 30 days from start date, the tournament and associated games not yet concluded are automatically ended.
  3. Expired Tournaments will have joined players coins 100% refunded.
  4. Expired Tournaments will have ToWin predictions for Tournament winner 100% refunded.
  5. Expired Tournaments games not yet concluded, will have ToWin predictions for the games 100% refunded.
  6. Expired Tournaments games are marked as a draw between the players.
  7. In a Knockout Tournament, a rematch is automatically created for drawn games.
  8. In a League Tournament, game winner gets 2 points, 1 point for draw and no points for losing.
  9. In a League Tournament, the Tournament winner is calculated based on most points, least lost game, least drawn and finally most won.
  10. In a League Tournament, there can be several winners. In this likelihood, the Tournament Winner Reward is shared equally between all the winners.

A coin is worth GBP0.01. However, there is a 15% charge if converting back into cash. This charge is capped at GBP200 per transaction.

The ToWin feature enables players and viewers predict if a player will win a Game or Tournament using their coins.

The ToWin feature has to be enabled/disabled in the settings while a game or tournament is being created.

ToWin predictions are not known by the players and/or Tournament Host. All placements can be tracked on your Transaction History in the Currency section on your Profile page.

For example:

  • Scenario: Game A (Player A vs Player B), Player A, Player B, Viewer C, Viewer D
  • Game A ToWin placements

    Player A - 2,000 coins on A winning
    Player B - 5,000 coins on B winning
    Viewer C - 10,000 coins on A winning
    Viewer C - 3,000 coins on B winning
    Viewer D - 4,000 coins on B winning
  • Game A outcome: Player B Wins. Therefore, total winning coins = 12,000 coins, total lost coins = 12,000 coins

    ToWin Calculations

Total Coins to be shared by winners is 90% of 12,000 = 10,800 coins
Player A - loses 2000 coins for a wrong prediction.
    Player B - wins (5000/12000) * 10800 = 4500 coins (fraction subtracted to make whole)
    Viewer C - loses 10000 coins
    Viewer C - wins (3000/12000) * 10800 = 2700 coins
    Viewer D - wins (4000/12000) * 10800 = 3599 coins (fraction subtracted to make whole)
  • Winners Payout

Player B will have 9,500 coins (5000 + 4500) refunded to their account.
Viewer C will have 5,700 coins (3000 + 2700) refunded to their account.
Viewer D will have 7,599 coins (4000 + 3599) refunded to their account.

ToWin limitations are:

  1. Only available when ToWin is enabled in game or tournament settings.
  2. Minimum ToWin placement is 100 coins.
  3. ToWin game placements must be made before the 32nd move. A reminder is given when this move count limit is close for games with ToWin enabled.
  4. If no ToWin losers, that is, everyone predicts the right winner, all coin placements are 100% refunded to currency accounts.
  5. If a game ends in a draw, all predictions are 80% refunded.
  6. Must place a ToWin on your predicted Tournament winner before the tournament ends. Be careful not to place on a player already out of the competition.
  7. A player can not place a ToWin on their game opponent.
  8. ToWin winners share 90% of the total lost coins according to the ratio of their individual placement to the total winning coins. See example above.
